THE GREENS ASSOCIATION ANNUAL MEETING 2010
Sunday, October 17, 2010
7:00 p.m.
The 2010 Annual Meeting convened at the home of Brian and Kim Barnes (1621).
Members Attending: Twenty two (22) units were represented.
Welcome and opening remarks were made by President Brian Barnes. New residents, Jerry and Janet Bair (1646) were introduced and
welcomed to The Greens.
Treasurer's Report, Sally Taylor.
- Sally Taylor circulated copies of the current financial report to all residents. Current assets as of September 30,2010 are as follows:
Checkbook balance; $13,120.24
CD balance;$6,855.53
Reserve fund: $3,187.35
Expenses for the year totaled: $83,500.38
- The $50.00 increase in dues that was initiated in February 2010 has enabled us to pay for the new roofs without taking out a loan.
This amount will continue, as there will continue to be additional expenses.
- The $250.00 "move in" assessment will continue and sellers need to remind their realtors of this charge and also the street assessment
for the Council Street construction. This assessment is found in the property abstract.
Grounds Committee Report
- There was discussion concerning the tree removal and trimming. DJ Smith pointed out that according to the bylaws, the association is responsible for
tree trimming, although in order to save money and to have the owner control what work is done, individuals can do their own trimming and/or request assistance
from those residents who are willing to do some of this work
- Harley Haber raised the question of saving money on the water bill by removing the meters during the winter months when the sprinklers are off.
There may be a charge for doing this so Harley volunteered to contact the water department to find out.
- Several residents whose units back up to Council Street report increased road noise and would like the association to consider installing fences behind their
homes. Norm Stepleton will check into various types and cost.
- Bill Nixon announced that he will be retiring from his job as head of the grounds committee due to the overwhelming requests and lack of volunteer
assistance. There needs to be someone in charge of each of the different grounds duties instead of one person over everything and he will help new volunteers get
started.
Election of Officers and Board Members
- The following residents were elected to a 3 year term on the board of directors.
The class of 2013; Sally Orf, Jack Read, Norm Stepleton and Sally Taylor.
- The Class of 2012; Bob Assink and Rose Turnis.
- The Class of 2011; Lou Louwerse, Betty Schulte, Jean Ogden, Merle Cooper , Brian Barnes and Larry Cooper.
- Officers elected for a 1 year term are:
President; Brian Barnes
Vice President; Larry Cooper
Secretary; Mary White
Treasurer; Karol Cooper
Other Business
- Larry Cooper suggested we have a meeting in December with the association insurance agent. He can explain our coverage and answer questions we may
have. The group was in favor of this and making it an informal holiday get together.
- Sally Taylor suggested having an audit or review of the financial books prior to changing treasurers. Since audits of books are very costly, 3 residents
( Nancy Nissen, Sally Orf and Dee Brown), with accounting background, volunteered to meet with Sally on October 30 to look at the books.
- Brian Barnes thanked Sally Taylor and all board members for their work these past years. Brian reminded us that we are a great group of residents and
we need to continue to work together for the best of the association. We all need to look for ways to conserve monies and help each other by sharing our
talents and expertise's.
Meeting adjoined at 820 pm.
