President Larry Cooper opened the meeting at 6:40pm. The minutes from the annual meeting of 2014 were read and approved.
Our new residents are Ken and Jane Davis who bought unit 1620. At this time, only one unit is for sale, Stephanie Caldwell at 1519.
State of the Greens
Larry reported that the finances of the Greens are in good shape. He felt the grounds and landscaping of our area have never looked better. The ash trees have been
treated by an arborist in hopes of saving them from harmful insects. A tree was removed in back of Rosie's unit and one new roof was replaced this summer.
He thanked the board for the work they do throughout the year. He also acknowledged Kim Barnes for the flowers at the front entrance, Brian Barnes and Bill Ham for
upkeep of the grounds, Lou Louwerse for lighting/electrical, D. J. Smith for legal and siding, Bill Nixon for the website, Paul Zimmerman for irrigation, and Christy Rezin
for the newsletter, which has been taken over by Gerald Bair and Elaine Blick. Kathy Potter-Stepleton organizes the monthly breakfasts, Elaine Blick manages the lunch
and movie outings, and she and Donna Bauer worked to get our new landscaping at the front entrance.
We will continue with State Farm Insurance since they offer the best deal for our needs. Larry reminded everyone that drive ways will not be plowed this winter if cars are
present. Satellite dishes also need board approval before installation. The holiday walk will be December 13th and encouraged a few others to participate. Once again
the annual dumpster was a big success and will continue this summer.
The year-end financial report was given by treasurer, Karol Cooper. She thanked Gerald Bair and Sally Orf for reviewing the books. Mary Roseberry made a motion to
approve the financial report, which was seconded by Bob Assink. The motion was approved.
Residents on the north side of the Greens were concerned about the condition of their back yards. There is not much grass cover and they probably need to be reseeded.
Bill Ham will look at the issue in the spring and residents were encouraged to get together and develop a plan to remedy the situation. It should then be presented to the
board for approval.
Larry again thanked all the volunteers that have helped make our area a great place to live. Their efforts have saved us money.
The board is also looking at the possibility of security cameras for our area. Someone came through early one morning and knocked down garbage/recycling cans and damaged
a front yard.
Election of Officers and Board Members
The following officers have agreed to serve another year.
Larry Cooper- president; Karol Cooper- treasurer;
Brian Barnes- vice president; Elaine Read- secretary
Jack Read and Jean Ogden are retiring from the board. Bill Ham has agreed to serve the remaining two-year term for Jack. Two others were nominated for the vacant position
but declined the nomination. The board will discuss the issue at a later date. Larry asked for other nominations for officers and there were none.
Rosie Turnis, Bob Assink, and Gerald Bair have agreed to serve another three-year term on the board. Jean made a motion to approve the officers and board members, which was
seconded by Paul. The motion was approved.
New Business
There was some discussion about who is responsible for owner yards and common areas of the Greens. D.J. explained that deck space back to their house is owner responsibility,
which includes the rock next to their houses.
Backfilling the wall along the west side of the golf course was discussed and Jean has a hole in her yard that also needs to be filled again, due to the sprinkler system. Marge Jacobs
was also concerned about a drainage problem in her yard. Karol suggested that owners with these types of issues get together and get estimates to bring to the board. There was
some discussion about how many estimates were needed for a project.
Phyllis Anderson and nine other residents attended a meeting about how we could contribute to the repopulation of Monarch butterflies in our area. George and Barbara Patschke
agreed to use part of their yard to start this project. Other volunteers are needed to maintain the area and care for the butterflies. Other residents also need to plant nectar flowers
to help sustain them as they hatch. Sign-up sheets were sent around for volunteers.
Those residents leaving the area for winter should let Brian know for security reasons. Leaving a key with a neighbor was also encouraged in case of a problem.
A motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:50pm. was made and approved.
