The meeting was called to
order and the minutes were read from the last Zoom meeting in January.
Trees:
Previously it was thought
that there would be some insurance pay-out for the downed trees from the
Derecho, but we discovered that was not the case. That discovery stopped the
discussion about possibly giving each resident $100 towards the purchase of a
replacement tree. Any resident who wants
to purchase and plant a tree should contact the board about the type of tree
they want and ask for approval and then the board will discuss it. We assume
that everyone would want to plant a tree that would be desirable for our area, but
approval is still needed because the association has to maintain the tree and
some are much easier to maintain than others.
The Stepleton’s have asked to
replace a tree that was previously in their rock area and that was approved.
Mike Lindeman wants to put one or possibly two trees on the golf course side of
his house and that was also approved.
Gutters:
Brian said that the companies
he is working with offers either 5- or 6-inch gutters and it was decided to go
with the 6 inch with large downspouts. Some homes have gutter guards and that
will also be replaced. State Farm will
pay for the replacement once a bill is presented to them.
Siding:
We do not have anyone
committed to do the siding work, but several board members are trying to
contact contractors. Area contractors are either completely booked or not
retuning calls. We will continue working
on this project. DJ & Abbie Smith have a list of the residents that
reported previous damage. If not reported before, please contact them. Any
ideas about this project would be appreciated.
Grounds:
Bill Ham has been wanting to
get the irrigation maps and key from Paul Zimmerman, but the Zimmerman’s are on
vacation. Karol Cooper thought she would be able to get these items from Paul’s
house and then give them to Bill. Fleming Irrigation plans on being here at the
beginning of May to do any necessary repair on broken lines and sprinkler heads.
Bob Assink’s rock replacement
behind his house was not completed last year because of the Derecho. Elaine
Blick was able to get in touch with Hi-CR who did the previous work on the
other homes. This was rock that had been displaced during the tiling project
behind the homes on the west side. They
have provided a quote of $449 to finish this project which was approved.
Berms:
After the Derecho the plants
in the Berms took quite a hit and again the weeds are winning. Bill Ham stated
that he has sprayed the weeds with Round-up and hopes to be winning this next
round. It was discussed whether we should put in some new plantings but then
decided to wait and see what has survived and review this topic next year. The
Berms can be nice to look at but do require a lot of attention.
Front Entrance Flowerpots:
Elaine Blick and Linda Miller
have volunteered to plant the flowers this year and were given a $350
allowance. We will once again need people to take turns with the watering.
Problem Area:
1618 Greens Way
After the Derecho, when the
trees were removed, the area was left with little or no ground cover, which in
turn could cause the soil to wash away quite easily. Bill Ham brought this to
the board’s attention, and we need to find a solution. As we have found out
previously, it is difficult to find any available landscapers or contractors to
do this work in the near future, let alone getting someone to look at it. We
need to procure someone as soon as possible to seed or sod this area. This is a
work in progress.
Grounds Manager
Since Bill Ham is overseeing
quite a few projects he has requested a budget. Projects include filling holes
and seeding, weed spray, mulch, etc. A budget of $2000.00 was decided on.
State of the Greens:
Karol Cooper-Treasurer handed
out financial information for all the board members with comparisons for
expenses from 2011 to the present. And we realize that last year the
maintenance expense was considerably higher because of the tree service
clean-up. But overall, most felt that we were in good shape financially.
