Members Present:
Larry Cooper- president
Karol Cooper- treasurer
Elaine Read- secretary
Board members- Rosie Turnis, Sally Orf, Sally Taylor, Bill Nixon, Paul Zimmerman, Gerald Bair
Also attending were Elaine Blick and Phyllis Anderson.
Larry called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm.
Minutes from the last meeting were read and approved. Karol gave the treasurer's report and told us
that as our buildings and streets age, we can expect more maintenance costs in the years ahead. She also said
that our income is higher some months when residents pay their monthly dues ahead of time. Refer to the website
for more information.
Larry reported that the wall along the golf course had been backfilled with dirt in places to maintain its stability.
Phyllis reviewed the information on the butterfly project and informed us about the Linn County Gardening Fair
on March 5, 2016. They will have some sessions about providing habitat for butterflies and those interested might
want to attend. The board felt this was a good project to endorse. A motion was made by Sally Orf to provide up to
$250 or less to fund this project. Sally Taylor seconded the motion and it was approved by the board.
Elaine Blick told the board about the Optimist Club Flag program. They will come five times a year to put
up flags and take them down and the money collected goes to youth programs in our area. The cost is forty
dollars a year and we need at least ten families to participate. There was some discussion about where the flags
would be located and who should cover the cost. Elaine also said a sleeve would be put in the ground for the
flagpoles and would be deep enough not to interfere with the mowers. Paul made a motion to find out how many
residents would be interested in participating in this program. Sally Orf seconded the motion and it was approved
by the board. Elaine Blick volunteered to check with the residents and get a count of those interested.
Elaine Read gave a review of information she had collected regarding security cameras for our area. One company
was not interested and the other two had similar requirements. Wireless cameras were not recommended due to
lack of consistency. The alternative was to have hard wired cameras with electrical line enclosed in conduit to a
house or light pole. A recorder of some type would need to be installed in one of our units and information would
be accessed by computer or smart phone. Prices ranged from $1,300-$3,000 according to number of cameras and
did not include electrical costs. A monthly fee of $17-$25 is also necessary. Some board members felt it was the
individual homeowner's responsibility to install a security system for their unit. Others felt cameras would not stop
a break in but could at least record what was happening. Putting up a dummy camera and a sign stating the area is
under surveillance was also mentioned as a deterrent. Larry felt the board should do more research and see what
other options are available to us.
With the recent break in of one of our units, putting in longer screws for the deadbolts into our door frames
was mentioned. The originals were very short which is why it was so easy to kick in the front door. Several
people have already replaced theirs and would be willing to help others do the same.

their backyard areas and then bring the ideas to the board.
