Linda Miller-Secretary
Board Members Present:
Martha Parks, Elaine Blick, Bob Assink, Sally Orf, Abbie Smith, Bill Nixon, Rosie Turnis,
Mike Lindeman.
Guests: Forrest Parks, Steve Black, Lou & Marilyn Louwerse, Larry Cooper, Rick McGraw,
Nora Becker, Linda Ham, Paul & Donna Zimmerman.
The meeting was held on Annetta Schirm’s driveway on a beautiful spring day. The first order
of business was to set the next meeting which will be held on Tuesday September 8th with the
location and time to be determined.
The last meeting minutes were read by Linda Miller and a few corrections were needed, such as
the Rules and Regulations committee member is Elaine Read (not Elaine Blick) and adding members
Karol Cooper and Martha Parks. The Insurance Task Force committee members should also have included
Karol Cooper and Jerry Bair. The minutes were approved and seconded.
Unfinished Business:
The repair of the window sill at the home of Deane Hinz (1618) has been completed. The porch columns
at Youngblut/Smith (1629) have also been repaired.
Status of Millers Roof Leak:
The Millers (1556) had reported a leak in the master bedroom and Derek Thompson did the repair on
that until the roofs can be replaced.
Status of Weed Control: The rock area on the homes on the west side continues to be plagued with weeds
after the tilling repairs done last year. The replacement of the tiles disturbed the plastic covering
and therefore giving the weeds a great place to thrive. Brian Barnes did spray some roundup on the area
but this is only a temporary fix. Thanks go out to Brian for doing this.
It was suggested that in the spring a pre-emergent needs to be applied and then additional spraying as
needed during the year and this should become part of the lawn service contract.
This year we need to have someone repair the plastic ground cover and add more rock. A motion was made
to approve this and was seconded.
Jerry said he had contacted Pecks Landscaping, but they have not yet provided a quote.
Rosie Turnis said that the weeds behind her house had still not been sprayed. Jerry will contact Greg’s
Lawn Service.
Paul Zimmerman said he would be turning on the irrigation and it would run on Tuesday and Friday mornings,
of course depending on weather conditions.
Additional Rules For Review: The clarity of tree ownership.
There are four proposals that are being reviewed at this time and will be voted on at the next board meeting.
It was suggested that there should be a rule that the Treasurer’s books should be audited yearly by an outside
source. This was approved and seconded.
Karol contributed that this has been done every year around mid-October but adding the rule would make it
mandatory. Another suggestion was to have a short treasurer’s report at each board meeting.
The Greens Way Picnic will be on Sunday September 13th and DJ & Abbie Smith will be hosting. More information
will be sent out when the date gets closer.
Hail Damage:
Jerry reported that our insurance carrier, State Farm has inspected the roofs, gutters and siding and a payment
for damage will be issued before too long. Derek Thompson from D& D Siding and Repair has done the most recent
work for The Greens and has done a good job and Jerry has talked to him at length at what needs to be done. Derek
said he would tear off all existing shingles and replace with 30 year shingles. Use 5 inch seamless gutters and
add ice shields to the homes to meet code specifications. Gutter guards would also be included.
If the payment from State farm is acceptable to Derek it was decided that D& D be awarded the job. This was
approved and seconded.
